چکیده
A2. This is a very interesting question. In antimicrobial research, the ability of an antibiotic to produce a three-log kill (decrease the bacterial load by three logs) is an important characteristic. In theory, if an antibiotic is able to produce a threelog kill, the host’s immune system can usually kill the remaining bacterial population. However, with an immunocompromised host, such as an HIV patient, little to no immune function exists to fight infection. Furthermore, it is believed that the remaining bacterial population (after a three-log kill) is less susceptible to the antimicrobial (assuming a fairly normal distribution of MICs among the population). Therefore, in theory, an immunocompromised host would be more likely to develop a resistant infection because their immune system is unable to “take over,” and the less susceptible population is allowed to grow. This idea supports the common practice of discontinuing prophylaxis for opportunistic infections in HIV patients once their CD4 count is above a certain level.

Answer Attenuation in Question Answering
Research in Question Answering (QA) has been dominated by the TREC methodology of black-box system evaluation. This makes it difficult to evaluate the effectiveness of individual components and requires human involvement. We have collected a set of answer locations within the AQUAINT corpus for a sample of TREC questions, in doing so we also analyse the ability of humans to retrieve answers. Ou...
متن کاملCooperation between black box and glass box approaches for the evaluation of a question answering system
For the past three years, the question answering system QALC, currently developed in our team, has been taking part in the Question Answering (QA) track of evaluation campaigns TREC (Text REtrieval Conference). In the QA track, each system is evaluated according to a black box approach: as input, a set of questions, and as output, for each question, five answers ranked with regard to decreasing...
متن کاملAnalyzing Language Learned by an Active Question Answering Agent
We analyze the language learned by an agent trained with reinforcement learning as a component of the ActiveQA system [Buck et al., 2017]. In ActiveQA, question answering is framed as a reinforcement learning task in which an agent sits between the user and a black box question-answering system. The agent learns to reformulate the user’s questions to elicit the optimal answers. It probes the sy...
متن کاملCharacterizing Health-Related Community Question Answering
Our ongoing project is aimed at improving information access to narrow-domain collections of questions and answers. This poster demonstrates how out-of-the-box tools and domain dictionaries can be applied to community question answering (CQA) content in health domain. This approach can be used to improve user interfaces and search over CQA data, as well as to evaluate content quality. The study...

Hillary Putnam and Kai Nielsen answer to this question is negative; On the contrary, from the point of view of this article, the answer to this question is positive. Many scholars of Islamic ethic have also given an implicit positive answer to this important question. One of the important evidences that shows that ethic is based on metaphysical princ...
متن کاملCommunity based question answer detection
Each day, millions of people ask questions and search for answers on the World Wide Web. Due to this, the Internet has grown to a world wide database of questions and answers, accessible to almost everyone. Since this database is so huge, it is hard to find out whether a question has been answered or even asked before. As a consequence, users are asking the same questions again and again, produ...
